In 2016, I moved to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area after 17 years in Western North Carolina and 23 years in education. I began my career teaching English and social studies in private schools, then transitioned to public schools and taught language arts to academically and intellectually gifted students. After leaving the classroom, I served as an instructional coach for two middle schools and had the opportunity to work with teachers in math, science, PE, and a wide variety of other subjects in addition to language arts. It was definitely exciting to see how much those subject areas have changed since I was a student and to view middle schools from different lenses.
My position as Bailey Middle School's academic facilitator for ELA and SS allows me to bring together all the things I have enjoyed doing in my career. I collaborate with excellent teachers, explore new educational theories, and keep improving both personally and professionally. I truly believe that modern educators are called to grow and change in order to inspire their students and colleagues to do the same. I look forward to being part of something very special here at Bailey Middle School- a community of leaders and learners.
